Since we are traveling to Europe, you know we had to try the foods and even make them! First up is croissants. If you have ever been to France, you might know they love their pastries. And we learned the secret to making the best croissants. Did you know, one single croissant has 27 layers of butter in it? It also requires you to make the dough one night before making it! So, you might not get it the first time, but if you "know your kitchen" as the chef said, you will perfect over time. (I'm going to include the recipe!)
As you fly over Europe and discover different places, you might know that each country has its own food! For example, you may know Switzerland for its famous Lindt and Toblerone chocolate, and who doesn't love a good bar of their favorite kind? If you go to Greece, there is a special Greek food called Dakos, and they are mostly bread with tomatoes and cheese on top. I love Dacos and they are pretty easy to make if you have the right materials! (I am also going to include the recipe!) I also loved Frances croissants and macaroons! It was super interesting how they make all the layers of butter and pastry!
(I also included one for a really good tzatziki)
Making the croissants!
The world has a lot of different foods that are quite interesting, and I never thought of Greek food that much, and I have learned to love it! I hope you try these recipes and have happy cooking!
Thank you for including the recipe! I love croissants, 27 layers of butter seems extra... delicious.
I think those croissants look amazing but I hope Cece gave the chef a hard time for being ”burned” since she is so particular about that!
ps I also love toblerone. Try a kinder bueno sometime!
Thanks for the recipes Ainsley! Can’t wait to try them all!!!!
Yum yum yum. Can’t wait for you to make some of these dishes for us when we come to visit. sending hugs from Pebble Beach.
We loved dakos -- but Cormac didn't try it. (He wasn't brave enough.) Soon he's doing a "country box" project at school and he's decided he'll choose Switzerland for his country. I'll have him check out your blog post.
