California = Chile?

Everyone knows California as the warm weather, beach vibes, music filled part of the USA. Then, look down the map. Can you spot something similar? Yes, the similar-sized country a bit farther down is Chile. It’s California's mirror image, twin, and an almost exact replica of one of the USA’s most popular states that you will think the world copied and pasted from it.

Shape, weather, and scenery-

If you look on a map and look down at South America, you will see a long, skinny country called Chile. And then, look up to North America, and you will see in the center, the United States of America. Look to the state far west of the country. Recognize something similar? Yes, that’s California. If you have made the connection, you maybe think that the shape is similar to Chile’s!

What more? Weather. Down in Chile, in summer, it can get above 80 degrees Fahrenheit! Same thing with California. Places like San Diego, Sacramento, Death Valley, and Joshua tree can also go to 80 degrees in the summer. They both also have wine regions, and grow wine for their country. You may also realize, they are along the coast. Many beaches in both lands, and the shape is similar!

But also, there can also be some major differences, like:

Population and landmass

The population of California is 40 million people, and the population of Chile is 20 million. Chiles's land mass is 757,000 km squared and California’s is 424,000 km squared. It’s kind of funny how Chile is almost twice the size of California, but only has half the population.

Also, the mountains in Chile (the Andes) are more south, as of California (the Sierras), they are more north. Same with the desert, but this time Chile’s is more north and California’s is more south. Chile is located in the southern hemisphere while California is in the northern. Most people speak Spanish in Chile and English is a close second, while it’s the opposite in California. Most people speak English but also speak Spanish as a close second.

So. California can look exactly like a mirror image of Chile, but as always, every country has its differences. It can go from the same temperature and same regions to having the mountains in the northern part of California end up in the southern part of Chile. In total, it wouldn’t be a horrible idea if California was totally booked up, you can maybe catch a flight to Chile.

Chile sounds awesome! It’s pretty crazy to see all the similarities. They just need a football team such as the 49ers😉

I'd book a flight to Chile! If only you could figure out a way to make the flight from Boise to Chile a bit shorter ;-)
